The park
A compact park with a huge sky. Permanent swamps, fed by water from Kilimanjaro that surfaces as springs, draw elephants through the dry months. Everything you came to see is close together.

Amboseli's elephants have been studied since 1972 by the Amboseli Trust for Elephants, the longest running study of individually known wild elephants anywhere. Big families, big tuskers and calves feed in the open, close to the road.
02At 5,895 m, Kilimanjaro stands just across the border in Tanzania, and Kenya's plains give you the classic view of it. Dawn and late afternoon are your best windows.
03About 204 km from Nairobi via Emali to Iremito Gate (KWS figure), a 4 to 5 hour drive. Or fly from Wilson Airport in about 40 to 50 minutes.
04Amboseli sits in Maasai land, and local communities still share the wider ecosystem with wildlife. We introduce you to it with respect.
